Welcome to the Aikido Kids Club with Sensei Ted!

 Hello and welcome to the Aikido Kids Club, my name is Sensei Ted and I would like to tell you more about our Aikido Club.

The Aikido Kids Club is an innovative and unique approach to teaching Aikido to young children. The Kids Club is on every Saturday for children aged 3-6 years old at the following times:

• Saturday 10:30-11:00 - Beginners
• Saturday 11:00-11:30 - Intermediate and Advanced

The lessons are delivered by Sensei Clare Gray, a professional primary school teacher, who developed a unique way of teaching young children their first stepping stones to Aikido through a series of fun games, gymnastic and listening type activities. The children's favourites include:

• Warm-up exercises to music
• Magic Tatami
• Traffic Lights
• Rabbits and Foxes
• Throwing the instructors (my favourite!)
• Sword and Staff basic Techniques

The techniques taught to the children remain age appropriate and are focussed on developing spatial awareness, balance, discipline and acquiring a strong foundation for moving on to the Juniors group.

The Hagakure Aikido Club has developed a special star award system (from 1 to 10).The children have the opportunity to take part in grading four times a year and on each occasion a certificate of merit will be presented to your child.

In addition each child is given an Aikido student card, on which they collect a star each time they attend training. Up to 10 stars can be collected per card, once completed it is signed by the instructor and changed to the next colour.
